Massachusetts Casinos and Sportsbooks Generate Over $147 Million in July 2025 Revenue

( Massachusetts).- The Massachusetts Gaming Commission reported $99.5 million in Gross Gaming Revenue from casinos and $48.03 million in taxable sports wagering revenue across retail and online operators during July 2025.

Massachusetts Casinos and Sportsbooks Generate Over $147 Million in July 2025 Revenue

The Massachusetts Gaming Commission announced that in July 2025, Plainridge Park Casino (PPC), MGM Springfield (MGM), and Encore Boston Harbor (EBH) generated approximately $99.50 million in Gross Gaming Revenue (GGR).

In addition, the state reported around $48.03 million in taxable sports wagering revenue (TSWR) from seven licensed mobile/online sportsbooks and three retail operators.

Casino Revenue and Tax Contributions

Plainridge Park Casino (PPC), a Category 2 slots facility, is taxed at 49% of GGR. Of this, 82% supports Local Aid and 18% goes to the Race Horse Development Fund.

MGM Springfield and Encore Boston Harbor, both Category 1 resort casinos, are taxed at 25% of GGR, with revenues distributed across several state funds.

Since the opening of Massachusetts’ casinos, the Commonwealth has collected approximately $2.161 billion in total taxes and assessments from PPC, MGM, and EBH operations.

Sports Wagering Revenue

All three casinos (EBH, MGM, and PPC) operate as Category 1 Sports Wagering Operators, allowing them to run retail sportsbooks, taxed at 15% of TSWR.

The state’s Category 3 online/mobile operators include Bally Bet, BetMGM, Caesars Sportsbook, DraftKings, ESPNBet, Fanatics Betting & Gaming, and FanDuel, each taxed at 20% of TSWR.

Of the total tax revenue from sports betting:

45% goes to the General Fund,

27.5% to the Gaming Local Aid Fund,

17.5% to the Workforce Investment Trust Fund,

9% to the Public Health Trust Fund,

1% to the Youth Development and Achievement Fund.

Since the launch of sports betting (January 31, 2023, in-person and March 10, 2023, online), Massachusetts has collected approximately $335.02 million in taxes and assessments from sports wagering operations.
